About

Cinema Architecture is a research project and discussion platform that aims to investigate how architecture can be understood using cinema, primarily through the analysis of the projected spaces where the camera has been moving.

The project Cinema Architecture is a series of film screenings supported by seminars and debates, where specific themes are approached with the help of invited guests and contributors.

The theme of these proposed activities is based on a constant architectural research that runs parallel the entire duration of the programme.

Cinema Architecture is founded and curated by Renzo Sgolacchia, currently interested in the liaisons between cinematic vision and architectural theory. Martina Margini, Iana Samakaeva, Alex Retegan and Julie Thissen have an essential role advising the organisation.

Since 2016 Cinema Architecture was generously supported by:

City of Rotterdam

Creative Industries Fund NL

Stichting Bevordering van Volkskracht

Fleur Groenendijk Foundation
